It's not only morally okay to steal your kids' Halloween candy, it's mandatory. In my household, we call it the "parent tax" -- I walk around with your for hours (absolutely willingly, with great joy) to gather this candy, a certain percentage gets kicked to me š
I love the Primary costume guide too!!! Always so good. We do semi-homemade family-themed costumes. This year is 101 Dalmations! AND YES, I'm stealing the chocolate.
We will put a few decorations out this weekend and go to the botanical garden's Halloween event to get free pumpkins for the kids to carve next week. The kids will dress up and we have dinner in the street with our neighbors, then we walk to a few houses and the kids get tired and go home to eat some candy. We live in a giant, walkable neighborhood and every year it blows my mind that our kids are happy doing a few streets! We don't generally steal their candy, but they do share with us.
Love that you live in such a family-oriented community! I was hoping youād chime in with all the cool things youāll be doingāthat botanical garden Halloween sounds incredible.
Also, I fully think itās expected to steal the candy, but I find myself asking them to share instead and if I do take a sneak candy I always pick the gross ones lol. My husband does not have that particular moral qualm.
Ghosts in the house looks excellent! Growing up in Europe I've never done much for Halloween. Went trick or treating for the first time last year š whilst visiting my best friend in Florida, I had no idea it was so huge but loved that the neighbourhood got together for it.

Ok, where are you (presumably) sourcing 99 additional kids dressed up as dalmations?

You are clearly on a different moral plane than I š

The question is how far are you leaning into this treasured US holiday now? š¤Øš
I'd say this year we are still just dipping our toes in! It helps my son's birthday is Halloween, so we're celebrating anyway!
