Sri, I loved every moment of this. And because everything is connected, I just watched a short video before reading this where a person says while looking at a bird “nature is so wise and so generous. Generous because it gives us everything we need. And now I’m going to cry.” We must be generous back 🤍

Thank you for this! Our kids are so smart and wise, much wiser than I ever was about the environment at their age. I’m excited to see what this next generation does and to play a role with them.

Have you read We Didn't Ask for This

Book by Adi Alsaid? A group of high school kids lock themselves in their school to protest a lack of climate change policies. It’s a YA, but my 40-yr-old self enjoyed it!

I went plogging this morning (jogging while picking up rubbish) and was overwhelmed with the amount of rubbish on my local streets, more than I could pick up alone. I had to remind myself that I can't change the world alone, but I can still make a difference. Looking forward to reading a few of these books with my kids, we've started a unit in our homeschooling on air, which of course is touching on climate change. Very timely article!

I am so glad you posted about this topic! Another great climate change picture book that would fit well on your list is The Snow Man: A True Story written by Jonah Winter and illustrated by Jeanette Winter.

This is such a timely post! In my staff meeting this week we were discussing if we’d have another freeze this month. Spoiler: We won’t. It’s already 75° and I checked the almanac because as you know, I’m planning our garden. My boss made a joke about you never know because it snowed here in April once. And I clapped back with well of course, that was 40 years ago. I think he took it as a bit of an ageist comment so I had to follow up with my reasoning being that climate change is real. That shut everyone up and we quickly changed the topic. No worries here. I can read a room. This is getting long winded already but what I really came here to say is I read every word of this. Thank you. This post is a great list of books and resources for kids. I have a soft spot in my heart for the environment and I hope to be able to show my kids we can all do just a little bit extra to combat climate change. Hopefully we’re raising thinkers who will be able to solve some of these issues and it starts with awareness from a young age!

This is such a wonderful list.

I grew up on magic school bus <3 so this takes me down a nostalgic memory lane.

And it’s so lovely to see all these other books for the kids to experience today.

Thank you for all the work that went into this post, Sri -- you've done an amazing job rounding up so many excellent titles (I mean of course you have; this is what you do, but you did it even better than usual this time 👏)

The Magic School Bus books have a special place in my heart. My heart skipped a beat when a kid told me my hairdo looked like Ms. Frizzle's! Marc Majewski is one of my favorite illustrators. Now I want to look up the rest of these books because I know they're brilliant!
