The best part about voting in Australia is the democracy sausage. There's a sausage sizzle outside all the good polling places, and they only count your vote if you buy a sausage afterwards
Ooh, Lambslide looks cute! I put it on hold for us and checked out the e-book of How Women Won the Vote. We'll see how the ebook version works out.
I'm signed up as an early voter in Arizona, so my ballot arrives in the mail for every election, big or small. It's great to get real mail! And I love getting the text that says my ballot has been counted.
The Froggy book is a classic! I remember in Elementary School we had a real polling booth station set up and got to vote with the old punch cards. It was really neat. My favorite voting memories are taking my kids with me. I vote in almost all local, primary, and off-cycle elections so I hope by the time they're old enough to vote, they've had plenty of opportunities to see how important it is. My parents always took us growing up and it's a tradition I'm happy to carry on. This year is a huge year for our family. My MIL is now an American citizen and this will be her 1st time voting after living in the US for almost 40 years!
I love this tradition and am excited to start it with my own kid. And congratulations to your MIL! Did you ever end up making her Americanized poutine?
Off topic, but I’m listening to Tom Lake by Ann Patchett on audiobook and it’s narrated by Meryl Streep and it is my vote (see now it’s topical) that you listen to it if you like audiobooks because it’s so good and Meryl is (of course) the queen
Ooh I had no idea Meryl Streep narrated the book! I'm off to check it out. How are you liking it? I've read the book but I'm imagining Meryl's dulcet tones sweeping me off to Tom Lake.

Ooh a food-related voting tradition? What a brilliant idea!

I feel so important when I get election mail. It feels like such a grown-up, VERY IMPORTANT thing to do and I love it!
Kid 2 agreed that Lambslide was very cute!

It’s one of my favorites!

She’s just so great at everything she does. It is incredibly done. Both the writing and the narrating
This is super helpful! I'm doing a unit on voting with my kids next month! I requested a few of these from the library.
