Hi There! 👋🏽

Raising and caring for kids is hard on the best of days. Throw in a few tricky questions and situations and you’re in a state of panic wondering how you’ll navigate this new teaching moment and are you really equipped for this?

When this happens to me, I turn to books. More specifically, children’s books. They’re fun to read and, best of all, they help untangle the murky questions and situations we sometimes find ourselves in.

Why sign up for Readable Moments?

This is a little reading space for all the parents and caregivers out there who love nothing more than to cozy up with a book, child(ren) in tow. This is where I share my recommendations for children’s books that can help you master parenting (haha).

I discover books that help you navigate teachable moments in a way that you and your kids are already familiar with and love: reading books together. In those cozy moments when you’re curled up with a kid and a book, stories can help you discuss situations in a low-pressure way that’s empathetic to you and your kids.

This newsletter is perfect for parents, guardians, and educators who themselves are self-proclaimed bookworms. You’ve experienced first-hand the power of learning from the written (and spoken!) word. You hope your kids can learn those abstract concepts that are so much easier to understand when they’re packaged into delicious, beautiful, irresistible stories. And maybe, just maybe, your kids will become book lovers too.

About me

Me winning an award during elementary school for most books read

I grew up reading children’s books. During elementary school, I won awards for the prolificity of my reading habit. Librarians would have me read books to help them determine how many to purchase (it’s how I first got my hands on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) for circulation.

Suffice it to say, I was (am) a book nerd. Interestingly, you’d think as I grew up, I would grow to like more grown-up books. And I do. But nothing can compare to the satisfying feeling of scenes unfolding before your eyes.

I want to share my passion for reading with not just my kids but the kids in your life as well. So much wisdom can be found in books and I am going to help you find it.
